Since Pearl Jam burst onto America's pop scene as part of 1991's Seattle music explosion, they have grown from being pigeonholed as a grunge band to national recognition as one of the country's most innovative band jam music and honest rock bands. Eschewing media hype band jam music and heavy MTV airplay (they rarely make videos), Eddie Vedder band jam music and the boys have become known for their dedication to touring. TOURING BAND 2000 bespeaks of this dedication to the live arena, including more than two hours of Pearl Jam concert footage compiled from their long-running 2000 tour, which spurred the release of dozens of live recordings. Jam band - The term jam band describes bands, often psychedelic rock bands, whose concerts largely consist of improvisational music, such as those of Phish, Cream, and the Grateful Dead. The term likely derives from the jam sessions of jazz musicians, though those sessions tend to be more free of constraints, whereas jam bands generally improvise around specific songs and/or song structures, often segueing smoothly between songs.
